Experts Pre-Dialogue webinar

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the National Foundations Dialogue Initiative (NFDI) hosted a Dialogue
of Experts for their pre-dialogue webinar on the 16th September 2020. The primary objective of the webinar was to
identify the priority issues to be addressed at the Limpopo Public Dialogue on access to water and sanitation planned
for the 19th November 2020.
Of the priority issues, the Experts focussed on the following objectives:
i.available and innovative delivery mechanisms for mixed uses of water in small and large urban
areas, including drinking, cooking, sanitation and agriculture (including hydroponics); adequacy
of quantity and quality of free basic water allowance; service delivery norms and standards;
and
ii. identify suitable speakers for the public dialogue.
In attendance were Prof Mike Muller from Wits University School of Governance, Ms Hameda Deedat from NALEDI
under Cosatu’s research unit in capacity as a water activist; Mr David Hemson who is the Ex-HSRC UNDER ‘Accelerated
water service delivery’ project – involved exam of water projects in Eastern Cape; Mr Tony Turton in capacity as a
founding member of the SA Water Chamber; Ms Alana Potter who is SERI director of research and advocacy; Mr Chris
Buckley from UKZN – Chemical Engineer by profession and other delegates.
