- National Foundations Dialogue Initiative
The National Foundations Dialogue Initiative (NFDI) is committed to fostering meaningful conversations that address South Africa’s socio-economic and political challenges. Our dialogues serve as platforms for reflection, consensus-building, and action, engaging diverse stakeholders from various sectors of society.
At the National Foundations Dialogue Initiative (NFDI), we believe that open and inclusive dialogue is essential for addressing South Africa's socio-economic and political challenges. Our dialogues serve as a platform for reflection, consensus-building, and action, bringing together diverse voices from across society.

(June 2023) In partnership with the FW de Klerk Foundation, NFDI organized an inter-school debate at King David High School (Victory Park). Students from Randfontein High School and King David School engaged in a stimulating discussion on the motion “Absolute free speech in a functional democracy,” showcasing their eloquence and analytical skills. This event underscored the importance of discourse, tolerance, and open-mindedness in strengthening our democracy.
(July 18, 2020) On Mandela Day, 67 young people from inner-city Johannesburg participated in the City of Courage Tour. Led by gender activist Luke Lamprecht, 30 young men from Fight with Insight ran across the city, promoting courage and resilience.
(July 22, 2019) NFDI and the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on hosting national dialogues. This partnership aims to deepen discussions on constitutional matters and promote democratic values.
