The National Foundations Dialogue Initiative (NFDI) was invited to participate in a round-table discussion on conflict resolution measures on the African continent and drawing from the truth and reconciliation experience in South Africa, Rwanda and Sierra Leone..

The NFDI was represented by Mr Jaki Mr Seroke (Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Trust / Director, NFDI).
ACCORD is the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes based in Durban. IGAD is an eight-county trade bloc of governments from the Horn of Africa, the Nile Valley and the African Great Lakes. IGAD stands for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development. ACCORD and IGAD co-hosted the dialogue.

ACCORD was represented by its founder and executive director, Vasu Gounden. The Roundtable was held at their premises in Durban.

The round-table dialogue process was informed by ready-made inputs from academia, civil society organisations and official government structures. The hosts have over the years established a continent-wide network of nodal points from which local nuances and insight into the dynamics that make up conflict are analysed.

One of the key takeaways from the engagement with ACCORD and IGAD is the necessity for cooperation with outfits like the NFDI, who champion national dialogue.
ACCORD promotes Inter-Generation Dialogue. This platform is made in partnership with others at local and national levels to promote peace.
